Warren Buffett is a rich investor, who is recognized world over for his sound and rewarding investments, as well as the biggest charity donation in the US. He was born of a stockbroker and U.S Congressman father and a homemaker mother in Omaha Nebraska, on 30th August, 1930. He was the second born in a family of three; two girls and a boy. Warren's family moved to Virginia (Fredricksburg) when he was only 12 years old, after his father got a U.S House of Representatives favorable election.

His Business Ventures

Warren started his first investment (three Cities Service Preferred shares), at the age of 11. He, later, sold each share at $2 profit, which was way less than he could have sold them for if he had waited longer. Warren marked that first experience as the key to his future investment decisions, which would call for patience. He would later run a paperboy, horseracing tip sheet sales and pinball machine businesses before the age of 20. In 1956, he founded Buffett Partnership in Omaha. He is the founder, current majority shareholder and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway; a holding company that operates a range of energy, insurance, service and manufacturing companies.

His heath, family and community give-back

Warren Buffett is a father of three. Although he is in perfect health and physical strength, he had a prostate cancer diagnosis in April 2012. He underwent relevant and comprehensive medical treatment until September 2014.Warren Buffet has broken the world's largest charity donations by donating over 85% of his wealth to Melinda Gates Foundation.

Conclusion

Warren has, over the years, received recognition as one of the richest businessmen, wisest investor and largest charity donor in the U.S and the world. His early eye for maths and investment details played a major role in building him an impressive business portfolio. Warren Buffett prostate cancer diagnosis made him seek medical treatment, which he underwent until September 2012. He continues active leadership of Berkshire Hathaway.
