H_R_Block,_Cairo

H and R Block shares have come down 21% in the last month after a disappointing third quarter caused a mass exodus by investors from the stock. However, we believe that fourth quarter earnings could turn H and R Block stock around and potentially offer up a significant opportunity for the savvy investor.

Though the third quarter is traditionally low performing for H and R Block, this year's loss was greater than expected. Revenue declined to $475 million, far lower than the expected $502 million. The third quarter loss amounted to $79 million, a significant increase from the $37 million third quarter loss experienced in 2015. In its third quarter results, the company also noted that they have experienced their fourth consecutive year of declining volume.

Carl Icahn Invests in Apple Inc.

It wasn’t too long ago that the drop in Apple stock seemed like it would not stop as the price dropped all the way down to $400 a share after the death of legendary CEO Steve Jobs. In addition to investing in the stock he has spoken with the current CEO, Tim Cook, trying to get the company to purchase more of their shares back from the public.

Activist shareholders have launched plans for a hostile takeover but on Monday Netflix stated that they had adopted a "stockholder rights plan" to prevent this from happening.

The investors have dubbed the plan the "poison pill" and will implement it should any group or individual attempt to purchase a mass of Netflix shares without board consent. In the event of this happening Netflix can make the takeover bid hugely expensive by flooding the market with new shares.
